In the Light of Summer: Wisdom from Mother Earth

In the Light of Summer: Wisdom from Mother Earth

As part of deepening my connection to nature and the elements, I’m contributing a new series of seasonal reflections on The Reiki Class blog. Each season offers its own guidance for healing, balance, and presence — and this Summer, the elements have much to teach us.

Here’s a small excerpt from my latest piece — I invite you to read the full post here. May it inspire you to walk with the elements this season.

For many of us in the Northern Hemisphere, and especially those of us in Southern states (Howdy from Texas!), the summer months begin to really heat up. This heat, as well as our longer days, remind us of how present the Fire element can be within nature.

I think many of us may get distracted and think of Fire solely as initiator energy – a flash of insight, the strike of a match, a brilliant new idea. But don’t limit Fire that way! Fire is light, it is warmth, it is a way to transform and a way to sustain! Fire purifies and electrifies us. Think of the experience of being burned by a flame — a visceral reminder of how Fire jolts us awake, activating the body, the mind, and the spirit. It sends a message to our system as the nerve endings rush toward our spine and up to the brain saying, ‘Move!’. And it isn’t just the initiator of motion, it is the encouragement and force to continue.
